"two yards, three lenins"

Saturdays, 5 pm - 6 pm (US Central) www.kwur.com, stream below!

“Oklahoma Song” - Hoyt Axton

Found this through another old friend from high school.  I think as much as all of us grew tired of Oklahoma we still have a soft spot for it (just a lil).

“Imik Si Mik” (Live) - Hindi Zahra

Gorgeous performances seem to pop up left and right whenever I have a paper that needs to be written.  Hindi Zahra’s voice is like honey, and her performance is captivating.  Enjoy!

“Kiss” - Scout Niblett featuring Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy

I first heard this from a really good friend 5 years ago, and it still makes me cry every listen.  The song is beautiful, the video is beautiful, the meaning is beautiful.

Every time feels this way doesn’t it?  Every time hurts this way too.

It’s truly too perfect.

several things:
1. devendra banhart has a tumblr.  and it is fucking excellent.
2. his new album, Mala, came out in early March.  and it is also fucking excellent.  (stream at the end of this post!  you might remember “never seen such good things” from the show last weekend)
3. i’ve been in love with this half venezuelan, indian-named, tattoo-ridden man since i was in the 9th grade.  and it grows everyday.  because he makes gorgeous music.  and he says beautiful things like “there’s comfort in thinking:  ‘it’s all going to shit and i have front row seats.’” in charming interviews.
4. have you figured out how beautiful devendra is yet?  find out now!:  http://www.npr.org/2013/03/03/173073083/first-listen-devendra-banhart-mala

JAI PAUL NEW ALBUM

“Jasmine” - Jai Paul

I don’t know when the hell Jai Paul is going to put out new music, but even with only “Jasmine” and “BTSTU” to go off of it’s clear his mind works in beautiful ways.  The way this song builds is so inertial, but every now and then (like 0:50) everything ceases and you find yourself holding your breath waiting for more.  Truly such a  perfect exercise in restraint.  I hope you enjoyed it on the air today.
